Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 August 2026

1. Who we are

DRS Coaching (“we”, “us”) provides a fitness, nutrition and coaching app. We are based in the United Kingdom and act as the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us about anything in this policy through the in-app Help & Support section or via our support page.

2. What we collect

  • Account & contact: name, email, phone number.
  • Health & fitness data (special-category): data you log or sync — workouts and sets, nutrition and diet logs, bodyweight and body metrics, progress photos, menstrual-cycle data (if you use cycle tracking), and data imported from Apple Health/HealthKit (e.g. steps, weight) where you grant permission.
  • Content you create: messages with your trainer, AI-coach conversations, notes.
  • Identifiers & usage: your account ID, in-app activity (to operate and improve the app), and diagnostic/error data.

We do not collect payment information in the iOS app, and we do not use your data for advertising or third-party tracking. Apple Health data is never used for advertising or data-mining.

3. How we use it & legal bases (UK GDPR)

  • Provide the service (coaching, plans, tracking, AI coach) — performance of a contract.
  • Health/special-category data — your explicit consent (Article 9), which you can withdraw at any time (e.g. by disabling Health sync or deleting your account).
  • Operate, secure and improve the app (diagnostics, first-party usage analytics) — legitimate interests.
  • Communications you ask for — consent / contract.

4. Apple Health (HealthKit)

With your permission we read selected Health data to power coaching insights. HealthKit data is used only to provide app features, is never used for advertising or sold, and is not shared with third parties for marketing. You can revoke access anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy → Health.

5. Who we share it with (processors)

We use trusted processors who act on our instructions, not data brokers:

  • Supabase — secure backend, authentication, database and file storage.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — processes AI-coach messages to generate responses.
  • Open Food Facts — food/nutrition lookups. We hold a local copy of their public UK food database and search it first, but we also query their API alongside it so that newly-added products appear, and for barcode scans. Your search terms and scanned barcodes are sent to them; no account details are.
  • Apple (APNs) — to deliver push notifications.

We share data with your trainer only within an active coaching relationship you have entered into. We may disclose data if required by law.

6. Retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account in-app (Settings → Delete Account): this schedules deletion and, after a 30-day grace period, permanently erases your account and associated data. You can also request a data export in-app. Some records may be retained where the law requires.

7. Your rights (UK GDPR)

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. Exercise them in-app (export/delete) or through Help & Support. You can complain to the UK ICO (or your local supervisory authority).

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit; access is enforced by row-level security so users (and trainers, only for active clients) can reach only the data they are permitted to. No system is perfectly secure.

9. Age requirement

DRS Coaching is for adults only. You must be 18 or over to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

10. International transfers

Our processors may handle data outside the UK/EEA under appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

11. Changes & contact

We will post changes here and update the date above. Questions? Reach us through the in-app Help & Support section or our support page.

12. Food data attribution

Product and nutrition information is sourced from Open Food Facts, a collaborative, free and open database of food products.

The database is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0, and its individual contents under the Database Contents License (DbCL) v1.0. Product images are licensed CC-BY-SA. We maintain a filtered copy of the UK subset of that database; any derived database we distribute is offered under the same ODbL terms.
